Feeling scattered or overwhelmed? This is my go-to when life gets loud. Takes exactly 2 minutes and works at your desk, in the car, or hiding in the bathroom (no judgment).

How to do it:

  1. Sit or stand comfortably. Close your eyes if it feels safe.

  2. Inhale through your nose for a slow count of 4.

  3. Hold the breath for a count of 4.

  4. Exhale through your mouth (like fogging a mirror) for a count of 6.

  5. Hold empty for a count of 4.

  6. Repeat the cycle 6–8 times (about 2 minutes total).

That’s it.

This 4-4-6-4 pattern calms the nervous system almost instantly by lengthening the exhale and activating the parasympathetic response. I use it before meetings, after tough conversations, or when my toddler is having a meltdown. Works every single time.

Try it right now — I’ll wait.
